Economy diversification

Development support from the public sector, particularly in socio-economic development in the region, has declined although a large part of the population has entered the bracket of absolute poverty due to loss of their economic mainstay – livestock keeping. Sedentarisation of the pastoral communities is taking place at an accelerated rate in the region. This has led to increased demand from communities for CIFA to take a leading role in designing and implementing programmes and projects that enhance economic diversification in the region.

CIFA in collaboration with stakeholders and development partners hopes to deliver the following results.

  1. Increase in number of IGAs.
  2. Improved household incomes from crop production activities.
  3. Increased value on livestock and crop products.
  4. Increased community sources of income from exploitation of natural resources.
